How much more can we take?

How much more can we take?  Our lives are becoming more and more regulated, and we have less and less personal rights.  We will never be able to pay off our National Debt in our lifetime harnessing our children and grand children with decades of grief over high taxes.  America was built on the premise of free enterprise and it seems we have forgotten what that is.  A person goes into business risking all he has to make a better life for his family and in the end they find over regulation by a government with their hand deep inside his pocket.  The odds of the business being successful are less and less every year.  Now with Obama Care we find another oppressive obstacle to add to their ever burdening collection of rules.  If you think it’s tough to get a job now just give it another year when the business side of the Affordable Care Act takes hold.  I know the extension of the un-employment insurance is popular to many but In my mind it is no different than the coddling of an addict.  We need to create jobs not more debt, you don’t create jobs with so called stimulus money, you create them by making it easier for business to hire, train and educate the workers.  We’ve shipped our manufacturing base overseas because we the public demanded lower prices and the union demanded more money and benefits.  The two mix like oil and water and neither will give an inch. 

I believe we could bring our jobs back with tax free zones in populated under employed urban areas but not as long as the constant demand for higher and higher wages exist.  In capitalistic countries venture Investors put their money where they can earn from the investment, they’re not in business to create jobs but to build wealth.  A good side effect though of wealth building ventures is that they do produce lots of jobs and with those jobs come benefits like health insurance and retirement funds.  You can dismay at the fact that the investors will get richer or you can pick up your hammer and start building your own wealth.  Those who feel that some jobs are beneath them and refuse to work don’t deserve anymore extensions. 

The government could solve the problem by taking a small portion of the tremendous amount of welfare and un-employment funds and subsidizing the worker’s salary in these start up companies for a short period until the company was on its feet and capable of paying a livable wage.  Just like running your family home a business needs cash flow to succeed.  When you have no money left at the end of the month you can’t pay your bills, when the company pays out more than it receives they have to reduce their labor force.  The country could spend a quarter of what this recession is costing on this program and put millions back to work and the national debt would go down every year.  As human beings we are not endowed at birth with an entitlement to anything we haven’t worked for.  Social Security, disability and medicare are funded by our labors and our employers.  Medicaid, Welfare and all the additional benefits awarded to people come out of you the workers pocket.  You see, government has no money to spend unless we give it to them from what we work to earn.  Yes I believe in charity but before charity comes opportunity and if 25 to 35% of our population has decided to suck the government teet dry and refuse to snatch any opportunity that comes along they no longer deserve our charity. 

Less taxes, less regulation will bring more jobs back to America immediately.     

Convenient Distractions

Our lives are full of distractions.  We have to constantly tell ourselves to focus on what’s really important to us as a people.  The Administration and the major media does its their best to constantly change the focus of the news by going from one unpopular process to another.  IT is not uncommon for them to distract attention away from say the IRS fiasco with a new push for amnesty or divert our attention from Benghazi by extending the unemployment benefits.  Just once it would be nice to see the completion of one of these so called investigations and have something done about the consequences of poor judgment.  The roll out of the Affordable Care Act is a great example, just who was responsible and who screwed it up?  The lies about keeping your insurance or your doctor, who wrote those speeches and why was the President out there telling these lies. 

The press and the administration is all over Bridge Gate with a Obama supporter with heavy liberal ties appointed to investigate Governor Christie’s possible involvement in the closure.  I wager this gets a deeper look than the New York Times look at Benghazi or the administrations investigation into the IRS scandal. 

These next two weekends at least we have a pleasant distraction with the NFL playoffs.  For just a moment we can sit back and cheer for our teams and lose ourselves in football.  Just watch if there are anymore scandals coming out it will happen when our focus is on the games not politics.

An email from a fellow Nevadan

I just received this email from a friend who actually lived through the depression, fought in WWII and Korea.  His opinion means a great deal to me and I just wanted to share his thoughts with you today.

Just in case you haven't been paying attention...

Obama has just switched our focus to "income equalization." It's patently a White House
ploy designed to distract the public away from his huge turkey, Obamacare. His shell
game is obvious, but of course there are a those in the neo-generations who will be
successfully sidetracked by his ill-conceived, sophomoric ideas.

Part of Obama's latest plan includes raising the minimum wage. For anyone with a pea-sized
sprinkling of common sense, that's legislating wealth or "wealth by government edict" and
there's no way it will ever work. But there are a bunch of people who will believe it can be
done that way. Many live in Washington DC..

Another part of his plan is to extend payments to unemployed able-bodied citizens, in effect
rewarding them NOT TO WORK. Just before the end of 2013, some 1.3 million long-term
unemployed saw their payments expire. Harry Reid has joined with other Democrats in

proposing an extension. There is only ONE Republican Senator currently supporting the
Senate Democrats' measure, and that's Nevada's own Dean Heller.

Try as I may, I can't be liberally objective of unemployment pay. During the Great Depression
there was no welfare and no such thing as getting paid NOT TO WORK. As a result, I washed
dishes (by hand) and fry-cooked. I got up at 4 AM every morning and "swamped" a bar and
grill. My dad went house-to-house seeking odd jobs.

There were always jobs available. They didn't pay too well and they sure weren't fun, but
there WERE jobs for everyone who wanted to work. No one got paid to sit home .... so no
one sat home. There were no food stamps, yet no U.S. citizen ever starved to death during
the Great Depression.

Oh, and "entitlements" were something we worked for. Seemed the harder we worked, the
more "entitled" we became.

Are we really so different?

How can we all be so different?  How can I see so much evil in this Obama administration and yet others  love it?  How can anyone explain in a logical way the lies that have come from this group, or the scandals that have surrounded them the last few years.  Am I so stupid to resent the fact that our Ambassador to Libya was left basically unguarded on September 11^th in spite of his requests and in fact pleas for additional security and after watching them slaughtered on screen come out with a cockamamie story about a video?  Am I so stupid to resent the IRS doing everything possible to destroy those who feel different about things then the administration?  Am I a traitor to this country because I am against the Affordable Care Act?  Do I do this country an injustice when I bring up the fact that this so called Obama Care was shoved down our throats in the middle of the night with no consensus between the parties?  Do I have a problem because I resent big government usurping our personal rights?

These are important things to me and many others through-out the United States, we have supported this country just like everyone else for decades yet we are left out of any discussion that pertains to our future growth and stability.  I like so many others are veterans who pledged our lives to this country yet we are second class citizens because we disagree with Obama.  We have worked for and elected representatives who have been locked out of the decision making process here in America because they are in an opposition party.  Our government has always been by the people and for the people as per the Constitution, why is it wrong to expect that now?  America has always been a place where anyone could reach for the stars and have a hope of attaining their dreams with hard work.  Now we are more of an entitlement programmed society who are constantly looking for the next government program to help us survive.  Sorry but there are a few of us left that are independent enough to take care of ourselves and resent the fact that we have to take care of everyone else too.       

Reflections

As we ring in the New Year lets’ take time to remember how we got to this point and the price we as a country have paid for the right to survive.  At my age of 72 I remember many New Years and the fears and excitement we faced as the years opened.  1948; We were just getting over the 2^nd World War and in the process of rebuilding our economy.  The war had left many families decimated with the loss of so many sons, daughters, husbands and wives.  By this time the Russians and their dictator Stalin had shown their true colors and we were at the beginning of the so called Cold War.  The land grab by the Soviets and the crushing of the spirit of so many in the eastern bloc was prevalent on the minds of Americans.  These poor people had just been through a war to regain their freedom and now found themselves in the yoke of another tyrant.  A war weary America could do nothing to stop the spread of the Soviets influence and went about rebuilding their own infrastructure and our industry was being reconstructed for peace.  

At the other end of the spectrum the Chinese Nationalist government led by Chiang Kai shek was deeply involved in a civil war with the Communists.   1949;  The Nationalist Government in China capitulated and the country was taken over by the Communists.  This emboldened the North Koreans a Communist government to begin to build their armies as a threat to their southern neighbors.  The Selective Service was on the mind of young American men after the age of 18 as there was noise of a potential war in the Korean Peninsula.  The general feeling was if the spread of Communism was not stopped it would spread through the Far East, it was called the domino theory.  The general feeling of most young men at the time was that war was inevitable at sometime in their lives and most were either drafted as 1A’s or enlisted after high school.  The few who went to college were exempted from the draft with a lower rating in the draft.  1950;  President Truman had negotiated a protection treaty with the United Nations, South Koreans and the Nationalist Chinese who had reinstated their government on the island of Taiwan. 

The North Koreans made their surprise move on June 25^th 1950 sending their army across the 38^th parallel in what many felt was a move sponsored by the Soviets and Stalin for world domination.  The United States reacted by sending General MacArthur with his Occupation force from Japan to counter the attack.  The Chinese Communist who we had just helped defeat the Japanese in their brutal conquest of China sent masses of troops in support of the North Koreans changing the entire scope of what was being called a Police Action.  This was the beginning of what has been called the Korean War.  It was also the first politically charged war where the Generals were not allowed to actually run the war but were always under the scrutiny of the United Nations and Washington as well as the press.  President Truman relieved MacArthur in a move that sent shock waves through the military.  This was also the first war fought under the auspices of the United Nations as they were the ones that had drawn the arbitrary line at the 38^th parallel initially dividing the country.  The U.N. set the rules of engagement something that Mac Arthur could not abide by.  1951; The North substantially supported by the Chinese and the Russians were about to take Soul the capital when our Marine forces landed at Inchon and after days turning to weeks of hard fighting drove them back.  

The South Korean Army was ill equipped to battle the Soviet Tanks and Migs of the North Koreans alone.  Few of their army had even seen a tank before, let alone a jet fighter.  Many believed this was a test by the Soviets to see if the United States had the resolve to fight another war.  1951 &1952 The war drug on and America’s youth were continually sent to fight what the United Nations considered a Police Action in Korea.  The Russians and Chinese having veto power in the U.N. blocked any attempt to escalate the participation saying it was basically a Civil War.  While the governments were in the middle of negotiations for a settlement of the dispute we continued to fight with heavy losses, a lesson we failed to take note of and seem to repeat in the Vietnam action.  1953;  Our troops came home less 35,000 of our finest young men and women.  1954-1967 we actually had a peaceful period with the exception of the cold war that seem to perpetuate our lives daily.  As a kid growing up in the 50’s it was just an understanding that we were going to end up in a hot war with Russia and we seem to understand and accept that fact.   1968;  The U.N. put us in the middle of another war, this one definitely a political fiasco.  The rules of engagement were once again dictated by politicians not the generals on the line.  This war divided our nation, a situation that has remained until this day.  We have those who believe that there are no borders in the world and we should all be under a one world government.  These people are called Progressives and feel that we Americans have been the aggressor throughout history.  They  have done their best to tame America to the level of Europe.  For those of us who lived through WWII, Cold War, Korea, Vietnam and the 2 gulf wars, this is a slap in the face.  We are not warmongers as we have been called, I don’t know a soul whoever has ever wanted a war.  We just want to have the freedom to win when our politicians get us into a conflict.  

The United States is a land of laws, laws that are made by our Legislative Branch and defended by our Judicial system.  The Executive branch of government is there to defend the Constitution and protect the citizens of the States from foreign enemies.  The present system of government, Executive, Legislative and Judicial seem to think that they have the power to ignore the Constitution and the rights of Americans and decide what’s good for us.  We are not subjects of a Kingdom but rather freedom loving Americans who have fought and died for the God given rights we hold so dear.  Beware of a government that offers to give you what is already yours.  It may seem free but it has a price, the cost is the rights that we have fought for and carry a cost of 100’s of Thousands of lives.

Peace comes from strength not political talk, peace happens when our enemies fear our might not our negotiating prowess.  Let's go into 2014 with an attitude of strength and defeat those who would weaken our resolve as a country.  God Bless America...     

God Bless America

People say you should never look back, me I disagree.  I think life was better when we had God involved in our everyday lives.  Now we are punished for referring to his grace.  The Progressive movement has destroyed the natural buoyancy of our faith.  When I was a child we sang with reverence "God Bless America" every day in school.  It felt good to know that God was watching over our great nation protecting us from the evil in the world.  Now they have booted God out of our schools and our hospitals and out of our military, no wonder bad things have happened.  We blame guns for violence, we blame a video for the Benghazi massacre, we blame a few rogue agents for the IRS scandal and we call the Fort Hood shooting work place violence.  Notice a pattern of lack of character coming from our government?  When the World Trade Center was destroyed killing thousands on our own soil it was just another skirmish in the Crusade against Christianity.  Our President at the time George Bush, rallied our country and for a brief moment we came together as one.  I remember that day like it was yesterday and I remember listening to the radio and they played Kate Smith's version of God Bless America.  I like everyone else who heard it had tears well up in our eyes as we realized God wasn't watching out for us anymore, we had evicted him and we were on our own.  Isn't it time to boot the Progressives out and bring God back into our daily lives?

You want Hillary after 8 years of Obama?

It comes as no shock to me that Barbara Walters hasn't paid the slightest attention to my rants. Could it be because I don't send them to her? But Ms Walters' move a week or so ago should have shocked all of us who know better. You might remember I entitled a web page "WHO'S' SAUL?" and briefly outlined a late Marxist radical named Saul Alinsky who espoused all the anti-Americanisms a whole bunch of us once went to war over.  I clearly tied Mr. Alinsky to Hillary Rodham (now Clinton) with her Marxist leanings, with her fascination with Alinsky, with the fact that Saul Alinsky himself had invited her to join his staff when she graduated from Wellesley, with her penchant for stretching the truth, how she participated in fund-raisers for the Industrial Areas Foundation (Alinsky’s radical Marxist organization) while she was First Lady in the White House. Yet now comes Ms Walters to name Hillary Rodham Clinton her top pick among the Ten Most Fascinating People for 2013 . It should be noted that La Barbara reveals some dangerous personal shortcomings in picking her political favorites. Charles Krauthammer (whose political judgment I value light-years ahead of Ms Walters’) just recently said, "It took her [Walters] five years to realize Obama isn't the Messiah!" She's had far more than twenty years to size up Ms Clinton and she's still calling her "fascinating"? Or maybe I’m misinterpreting? Maybe in Ms Walters’ eyes, Genghis Kahn was “fascinating.” But I sure wouldn't want him as our president.

A Christmas message

A Christmas message to all who believe in Jesus Christ our Savior.  This message begins in Bethlehem 2013 years ago when God delivered his only son to us so we might have a righteous path to follow.  There were many non believers at that time just as now and Jesus’ life was anything but safe and comfortable during his 31 years among us.  Because of bigotry and fear of such a dynamic person Jesus was persecuted by King Herod and in fact nailed to a cross and left to die a most agonizing death.  While on that old rugged cross Jesus told us that he forgave those who did this to him and that it was his mission to die to erase our sins and make us pure.  For those who don’t believe or who are confused and want to believe, let me explain something.  In a day when there was no communication other than direct face to face discussion this man was able to change the world.  He had to be the greatest orator in history to bring people from the dark side in the numbers that he did.  No man has been able to repeat that feat in modern history, in a time when anyone can gain access to the communicative power of the microphone and talk to millions at a time.  Several have tried most in an effort to gain their own wealth and power only to be smote down by their own fallacies.  God gave one man the power to save the world and he has left us to care for his legacy.  As I look around me I see much immorality and debauchery that has grown even among those who proclaim to love and cherish his memory.  God gave us a list of Commandments through Moses that if followed would lead the world to peace and understanding of one another and now we cannot even display those wonderful words of wisdom for fear of offending some non believer.  Do we not offend ourselves by ignoring his word? Do we not offend God for usurping his authority?  To the non believer we just appeared one day, the trees grew and bore fruit, the cows suddenly appeared and gave nourishment and the air that we breath just happened to be encapsulated around the world we live in.  All by accident they say, look around you, take in the beauty of our being and tell me it was by an accident of nature.

We Christians spend this day celebrating the day Jesus was sent to us, his birthday in our terms.  We gift one another as a tribute to the Wise men who traveled to his birth place bearing gifts for the new King.  In a day where there was no communication how did they know to come?  How did one child grow into a man and create such wonder among his fellow man in only 31 years?  In my heart I know that God has instilled in all mankind a faith that if allowed to grow will lead to eternal salvation.  There are those who use mans greed to gain favor with promises of a heaven here on earth but in the end it will be the Commandments from God that will lead us to his side.

December 7, 1941 to May 8, 1945 is  3 years, 5 months.

From the day we were attacked at Pearl Harbor to the day Germany surrendered would not have given Obama and his minions enough time to build a working webpage for Obamacare.

 

Mobilization of millions of fighting men, building tens of thousands of tanks, planes, jeeps, subs, cruisers, destroyers, torpedoes, millions upon millions of guns, bombs, ammo, etc. Then turning the tide in North Africa, invading Italy, D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, Race to Berlin - all while we were also fighting the Japanese in the Pacific!!

 

And these people can't even build a webpage much less create a viable health-care program!       ....Of course, neither Roosevelt nor Truman played golf !

Did we learn anything from the Duck Dynasty fiasco?

Did we learn anything from the Duck Dynasty fiasco this week?  If not we are in worse shape than I thought.  Political correctness is destroying the fabric that has held us together since the beginning of the our nation.  Our designers knew we would be faced with an attack against our system of government and that the attack would come from within.  That's why they set our outline in the form of the Constitution.  They covered every base but one and that is apathy.  When the people of this sovereign nation become too apathetic to stand up for their own rights we will have failed the greatest experiment in mans history.  Freedom only comes from mans desire to be free overriding mans great desire for free things.  Everything comes at a price and freedom is no different.  There is no such thing as a free ride through life, it comes with a big price and many are finally starting to feel the weight of that bill.  There are those who relish an effortless trip through their time on this earth and do nothing to add value to their existence.  They don't deserve the freedom that others have paid so dearly for.

Phil Robertson was asked a gotcha question by a liberal reporter from GQ magazine who got exactly the answer he was looking for.  Mr. Robertson gave the correct answer for the question asked, it was a personal opinion and being a man of honor gave a truthful answer.  There was no malice intended and he even offered the tenants of his basic feeling that his religion has taught him to love all man, gay, straight or whatever the case may be.  This is an honest man with an honest answer.  He should be applauded for his ability to speak clearly from his heart not chastised because he doesn't agree with a certain element of our society.  The Robertson's are pillars of the community they live in and are not the bigots that they have been made out to be.  Shame on A&E and ABC for their quick kneejerk response to an unwarranted attack by the people from GLAAD, the gay and lesbian group who have tried to muzzle our freedom of speech based only on their core beliefs.

I sincerely hope this family will stick together and show the world that their faith in their Patriarch and in their God is stronger than any soulless acronym that may speak out against them.
