I post this a day early so that those who don't know what this date stands for can take the time to look this day in history up and maybe learn to understand. June 6th, 1944
June 6th will always be a day of reverence for Americans. Our very country changed that day because of the bravery of so many of our young men. I say it changed because who knows what great things many of those who died on those beaches would have gone on to do. The children that remained unborn due to their deaths. The lives of families dealing with their personal losses. The girl friends or wives that never recovered from the tragic news they received that day. They came from all over the land these youngsters, all with hopes and dreams for the future. Many right out of High School facing the terror of war for the first time. America won the war but lost a lot of our future right there on those beaches.
We have the life and freedoms that we do here in the United States because of the men and women who suffered through those terrible war years and yet all we are asked to do is stand and pay homage for their sacrifice when our flag is presented or our National Anthem is played.

As this country evolves I sometimes feel that our beautiful land suffered more than tragic death on those shores so far away, we seem to have lost the bloodline and strength of so many of the real heroes of that era. We cry and whine over trivial setbacks rather than face our problems with the dignity representative of their valor. God Bless all those who serve our country and God take care of those who gave their all for our freedom.
