A note from a friend;
Dear readers:
I’m probably not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but every day I take the time to
read every advisory service I feel is objective and worthy. After separating the
wheat from the chaff, and when the results warrant, I share with you the salient –
and undiluted -- facts. And political correctness be damned!
This morning we got our weekly BLS (just BS?) employment stats. They reported
that we’re still hanging at a 6.1% unemployment rate. The average Americans,
who barely have time to brush their teeth what with jobs, kids, houses to maintain,
chores, bills, etc, etc, etc, take a quick glance and say, “Hey, we’re still improving!”
Uh-uh! Hey, grab your water-wings and swim with me through the garbage that
our government dumps by the barge-load into every body of water in the U.S.
First off, that 6.1% is a manufactured pile of camel doo. I watch the numbers every
week and it is obvious they spin a wheel or throw darts to come up with a number.
Harsh words, Ron. Yeah, but they’re true. Take a look at the truth.
In the U.S. we have what’s called a “labor force.” Briefly, that’s the part of our
population that want to work and, if factors allow, do work. As our population
increases every day of the year, that number should increase. But over the last 6
years, and according to the BLS, the labor force has shrunk. Huh?
Quickly, ‘cause I can tell you’re getting edgy: A few years back the White House
instructed the BLS to change its method of determining unemployment. The
numbers were getting too large. So they dropped those who had been unemployed
for a certain length of time. Then they added to the “working” those who were
forced to take part-time jobs. In simple terms, they dropped a whole bunch of
disheartened workers from the equation. Then they began adding "seasonal
adjustments" that didn't actually follow any season.
Good friends, the BLS is shining a rosy light on a dead fish. TODAY only 68.2% of
America’s workforce is working !!! That's nearly one-third of Americans who
want a job -- need a job -- have one.
Our REAL unemployment percentage is above9%. In some states it’s
11 or 12%. And the real problem is, IT ISN’T GETTING BETTER!
Why do I tell you this? Because the water is getting deeper and our “lifeguards” are
all home on vacation. Even when they’re on duty, they don’t have a clue how to save
us. I'm sure many of them can't even swim. Many of them come up for “rehiring” in
November. Do something. PLEASE!
