If I could give the peoples response to the State of the Union;

If I could give the peoples response to the State of the Union;

I come before this august body with a heavy heart.  We are on the cusp of a great change in America, one that will have a lasting effect on our children and on those who come after them.  We the American people have lost the will to be the leader of the free world.  We have become a pawn of the United Nations rather than the leader of nations. We find ourselves floundering in the wake of those countries that would do us harm.  The spirited soul of America has become the dim light of socialism.  This only took a few years to accomplish but should not be much of a surprise to those who stood by and watched it happen.  The people of the United States found that they could fill their life's needs through the coffers of the treasury and at this point over 50% are on some type of benefit program that they selfishly call an entitlement.  I'm not speaking of the Social Security or Medicare programs as these were paid for by those who receive their benefit.  I refer to the  expanded welfare programs that have become a replacement for work for many.  Generations of  family's find comfort in their benefits at the expense of the working class, a class however that is shrinking substantially by the day.  No one I know begrudges giving a family in need a hand up as the welfare program was intended to do.  But now we have a zillion other agencies who give away our money daily to those who have no desire to join the workforce.  Free Housing for life, free cash, free phones, free food, free clothing, free education, free medical just to name a few.  These freebies add up to more than I make in a year yet I have to pay for them and still support my own family.  The graft and corruption that has been allowed to permeate these programs has added a stench of death to our great country.

How can this be fixed; It does little good to talk about all our woes without offering a fix for the long term.  First before we can fix a problem we have to understand it's cause.  America is not just a country, we'll use the name the United States for that.  America is a way of life that has been developed over generations.  Americans rallied to the cause in WWII, we built an industrial complex that dominated the world.  We offered our lives to the people of Europe and the South Pacific.  We didn't ask for anything in return other than their loyalty and friendship.  Very few waited for the draft to call their number, most stood in long lines at the various recruiting stations.  We were the shining beacon on the mountain of freedom for the world.  When Korea came along two things were very different, we knew we were fighting a political ideology for a divided country.  Few knew anything about the Korean Peninsula and even less about the political ramifications of communism.  Fathers who had returned from WWII had little desire to see their sons and daughters become involved with this police action and the press was extremely adversary to the war.  Thus the birth of the anti war movement that became the Hippy culture, that has evolved into the liberal society we find running the country today.  Viet Nam replicated the same type of political involvement as Korea and only built a bigger wall between the youth and the establishment.  Our politics and our patriotism changed rapidly, it was no longer considered an honor the serve by the youth of the 60's they openly defied the government which led to many confrontations in the streets of the United States. These kids were taught that Americans were imperialistic and drained other countries of the wealth.  The young hippies were now being taught by the past generation who started the anti war movement and the drug culture that went with the lack of parental guidance that accompanied the movement.  Parenting as it was known in the world prior to the 60's was nowhere to be found, parents who cared found themselves faced with the Dr. Spock culture that destroyed any thought of disciplinary action and in fact passed laws against physical discipline even by parents.

How do we get back to the American way of life?  How do we instill pride in our country when our teachers and professors are brainwashing our kids with Anti Americanism and a liberal slant on the world?

The United States has been attacked from inside by well place moles whose only job in life is to keep the fires of Socialism burning in the hearts of our youth.  They have done this quietly over the years by using the education system to infiltrate the American way of life through the children of America.  They have lied, cheated and coerced their way into the politics of America to ensure their future.  They have taught Americans to expect their government to provide everything and have done so using our money to bribe the population into submission.

The answer lies in the money, the government has no money of its own and must rely on we the people for its cash.  Cut off the money and you destroy the fuel of socialism.  This November we have what is called a midterm election and it can be the start of the recovery.  We can elect an entirely new group that has the moral character to stand firm and be resolute in their beliefs.  We can work together to shrink the size of government and bring back industry to American workers.  We can quit buying those things that are made in China and other adversary nations and replace them with ours and other friendly nations products.   We can reinstate the draft not for just military but to spend 2 years working to help those in need in our own county.  Like a Peace Core but at home in poverty areas.  Some can be teachers through a mentoring program for slower students others may intern in government and other industries that are growing rapidly in the new economy.  Where else can we expect our future leaders to come from? Lets give these new leaders a chance to live and understand what the American Dream and the American way of life is all about.  If we fail they will fall farther into the dark hole of socialism expecting all things to be provided.

Will America survive?

Why is it that so many of those who consider themselves Liberals attack those who they disagree with foul and obtrusive language.  Do they think we will be shocked and back off our beliefs?  Some are so rooted into their philosophy that they actually believe the proven lies that have come from the Obama Administration.  All the language and attitude does is show their contempt for all that is America.  When a person resorts to shock language and tries to belittle those who think opposite, all they are doing is showing their inability to legitimately debate their cause.

I have never backed down from a legitimate debate but when the opposition resorts to foul and abusive language I feel they are not worth my efforts.  After all a debate is generally to try to sway a person to your way of thinking and when the opposition has no real basis for a position and is just spouting rhetoric it makes debate useless.  The real shame comes from the misplaced trust that is being perpetrated by the Democratic Party on those who have been loyal for decades.  I have a lot of friends who are Democrats but none that I know of are Socialists.  They have been and probably will be Democrats for life not realizing what their party has in reality become.   Being an Independent I will always vote for the person that I feel is the best for our City, State, County or Country.  Both party’s have become ideological icons only interested in power.  I will admit that I generally find that I lean more to the Republican side due to the Conservative nature of my feelings.

Don’t believe the story that we are so far apart that our country will never be the same.  I talk to Dems and Reps every day and in total we are not that far apart, it’s the leadership that is holding this country back not the people.

Why can't Conservative learn the art of politics?

Here we go again, when will our people learn the art of politics.  Now I consider myself a Conservative but I find all this rhetoric against the so called Rino’s disturbing.  All we need to do is temper it down and win an election for a change and then clean out the trash.  All we have been doing is putting targets on the people that we need on our side to win.  Romney for example wasn’t the Conservative we wanted but by not voting for him we got 4 more years of socialism, happy about that?  Had we come together without all the infighting we could have won the Senate and cleaned house on Obama Care.

How do you think the Progressive’s attained power? They started by taking over our schools and brain washing commonsense out of our educational system.  They infiltrated the local politics and gerrymandered the election boundaries to guaranty their victory.  They pretended to be middle of the road Americans lying to the uninformed masses until it was too late.  We can continue to eat our young and kill our chances for a better future or we can learn from our last mistakes and out progress the progressives.  Mainstream America does not want Socialism problem is that they fail to recognize it when they see it.  Our system has generally been life to death Democrat or life to death Republican.  It’s not like that anymore and we have to understand that the party’s are not what they were.  We as Conservatives are not going win by destroying those closest to our way of thinking and allowing those who are opposite of our beliefs to continue to be victorious, our country can’t stand another defeat of commonsense.   What would a Hillary Administration be capable of doing to way of life.  Are you willing to risk that?

Thank God for Obama

Thank God for Obama, just think when the Conservatives take over they can now use the entire power grab that Obama has been accumulating over the last few years.  What’s good for the Goose is good for the Gander.  Using executive privilege to pass whatever he wants, to appoint judges with only a 51% vote in the Senate.  Wow this is going to be fun especially the down grading of Obama Care.

We Conservatives have to understand that to get elected we have to shade the truth just like the Liberals have.  Obama ran to the middle of the road until he was elected the first time and then we acted like little children in 2012, stamped our feet and stayed home from the polls because the Republican nominee wasn’t conservative enough in the second election.  It’s time to grow up and play the same game to take over the Congressional and Executive branches of government.  We spend our time self destructing fighting each other decimating the party.  All I hear is the mainstream republicans hate the Tea Party and vice a versa.  Each community, each State, each District is supposed to elect the candidate that they feel will do the best job for their constituency.  Forget national politics for now and get back to the grassroots where your vote counts.  If we don’t get back control our country in the 2016 midterms we will be beyond help.  Get involved or give up on all America has stood for, it’s up to you.  Don’t you think we would be living a lot better had we elected a Romney administration than we are now, haven’t you had enough yet?  I don’t expect who ever we elect as the next President is going to be able to turn this titanic around without help from a friendly Congress and Senate.  It’s important we work to put them in during the Midterm elections to avoid any more of this slide to Socialism.

2016 has got to be the beginning of the change.  Another term with Obama with Reid in control of the Senate will do tremendous harm.  If we can gain control of the Senate we can stifle his ability to continue to tear down our American way of life.  Start by electing local politicians who have your values, so much of local politics is carried on through the Good Ole Boy syndrome instead of who will be the fighter to take on Washington’s overstepping of our rights.  Good government at home spreads the word and will grow and spawn new leaders for our future.   It’s time to reach out and find the new Reagan, he’s or she is out there waiting to be discovered.  God Bless America.

Whose the greatest generation

What is it about the human race that if you work hard to make something seem easy they will think you have more that you're holding out.  IT shows just how easy it has been to turn a hard working country into an entitlement paradise for many.  The more you give the more they seem to want.  The Progressive's count on this to push their agenda down our throats. Can you just imagine what it would be like to bring a depression era head of household feeding 4 children into today's United States.  They would think the world had gone mad.  Free food, free housing, free medical, free education, free money and of course a free cell phone.  Plus the fact that people get paid for being out of work even if they turn down a chance for employment.  This would be too much for a person who walked the streets tirelessly just find enough odd jobs to feed his kids that day.  The only food he or she would save for themselves was a little stale bread and whatever they could find to put on it.  I tell you this because my father and mother lived during that period and had to do those things to survive.  Work was exchanged for food and clothing, no one had any money to spend.

Reverse that picture now and send the perennial welfare recipient back to the depression era and just watch how long they would last.  I'm drawing this picture for you because that's where we are headed if we don't make some very decisive and quick changes.  Life as we know it cannot sustain itself going further and further down the path of Trillion dollar debt.  Sooner or later the piper will come calling and if we don't have the ability to pay the bill our country will go the way of the Roman empire, nothing but ruins to see for miles.  So as you pick up your next Welfare Check or Unemployment reward and you haven't done your best about getting a job, think about what it's going to be like for your children and grand children, do you think they will call you the greatest generation?

There are no civilians in war

We are fighting a war for our freedom whether the left wants to believe it or not.  To fight a war you have to have the determination to win.  Our country for the last few years has shown no determination to attain real victory.  In war there have to be objectives and we have failed to support our troops when those objectives involve potential civilian casualties.  When someone uses the cover of a house or rooftop to kill our young men that house should be a target.  There are no real civilians in war as if they were against the aggressor they would be fighting on our side.  In WWII we had to bring the entire country of Germany to its knees by heavy bombing of civilian areas.  Same thing happened in Japan.  Without the Atomic bomb we would have had to attack Japan itself with the result being much higher casualties on both sides.  We have put our troops in an unattainable position in Afghanistan, moving them through enemy territory in broad daylight without air cover.  In WWII we would have saturation bombed the area before we ever sent our troops in.

Just like in Germany and Japan, when the civilian population gets tired of the bombing they will push the terrorist out themselves.  When the population sits back and watches our troops being ambushed with IED’S and gives cover to the bombers they are not civilians.  All we have done is capitulate to the United Nations rules of engagement and when was the last time the U.N. won a war?  Has the world forgotten why we are in the area, have they forgotten the training camps that were flourishing in these civilian areas in Afghanistan, have they forgotten the end result of those camps when they attacked the World Trade Center in New York?  How many soldiers did they kill that day, if my memory serves me they killed over 3,000 peaceful civilians, mom’s, dad’s brothers and sisters who went to work that day not knowing they would never have a chance to say goodbye to their loved ones.  Just like the Boston Bombers there was no consideration for civilians.  If we are going to fight a war and this is a war, we should only commit troops when we have decided we are going to win.  The U.N. rules of engagement tie our hands and puts our military in a no win situation.  I for one am tired of having our kids maimed and killed while the population of the region laughs at our stupidity.

There are no civilians in war.

Please Mr. President

Bowdrie "Bowe" Robert Bergdahl[2] (born March 28, 1986) is a United States Army soldier who has been in the captivity of the Taliban-aligned Afghanistan Haqqani network since June 2009.[3][4][5]

Early life and education[edit]

Bergdahl was born on March 28, 1986 in Sun Valley, Idaho to Jani (Larson) and Bob Bergdahl, a UPS driver.[6][7][8]Bergdahl has an older sister, Sky Albrecht,[9][10][11] and was home schooled by his mother Jani in HaileyBlaine County,Idaho. He received a GED certificate through the College of Southern Idaho by the time he was in his early 20s.[12][13][14][15]
As an adult, Bergdahl studied ballet at Sun Valley Ballet School in Ketchum, Idaho.[16][17]
He never owned a car, riding his bicycle everywhere.[18]

Military status and disappearance[edit]

Bergdahl was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment4th Brigade Combat Team25th Infantry Division, based at Fort Richardson, Alaska.[19] During his unit's normal deployment rotation to Afghanistan, he went missing on June 30, 2009, near the town of Yahya Khel in the Paktika Province, which is in the south-east of Afghanistan, right on the border to Pakistan. The area in which Bergdahl was captured is right next to Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
He is believed to be held by the Haqqani network, an insurgent group affiliated with the Taliban, probably somewhere in Pakistan.[20]
Since then, the Taliban have released five videos showing him in captivity. The Taliban originally demanded $1 million[21] and the release of 21 Afghan prisoners and Aafia Siddiquiin exchange for Bergdahl's release. They threatened to execute Bergdahl if Siddiqui was not released. Most of the Afghan prisoners are being held at Guantanamo Bay.[22][23] The Taliban later reduced its demand to five Taliban prisoners in exchange for Bergdahl's release.[24]
Bergdahl was a Private First Class (E-3) when captured. He was promoted to Sergeant (E-5) on June 17, 2011.[25]

Capture[edit]

On July 18, 2009, the Taliban released a video showing the captured Bergdahl.[3] In the video, Bergdahl appeared downcast and frightened. A Department of Defense statement issued on July 19 confirmed that Bergdahl was declared "missing/whereabouts unknown" on July 1, and his status was changed to "missing/captured" on July 3.[26] In the 28-minute video his captors held up his dog tags to establish that the captured man was Bergdahl.[3] Bergdahl gave the date as July 14 and mentioned an attack that occurred that day.[27][28][29]
Accounts of his capture differ. The version offered by Bergdahl, in the video, is that he was captured when he fell behind on a patrol.[3] CNN, in its report, cites both Taliban and U.S. military sources, the former alleging he was ambushed after becoming drunk off base, and the latter denying that claim stating: "The Taliban are known for lying and what they are claiming (is) not true".[5] Other sources said Bergdahl walked off his base after his shift.[30] A Department of Defense spokesperson, Lieutenant Commander Christine Sidenstricker, said, "I'm glad to see he appears unharmed, but again, this is a Taliban propaganda video. They are exploiting the soldier in violation of international law."[3][4]
According to the Associated PressGeneral Nabi Mullakheil of the Afghan National Police said the capture occurred in Paktika Province.[3] Their other sources inform them that he was captured by a Taliban group led by Maulvi Sangin, who has moved him to Ghazni ProvinceThe Guardian quoted sources who speculated about the increased difficulty of a rescue mission if Bergdahl had been smuggled across the nearby border into Pakistan.[4]
CNN described two Pashto-language leaflets the U.S. military was distributing in seeking Bergdahl.[5] One showed a smiling GI shaking hands with Afghan children, with a caption that called him a guest in Afghanistan. The other showed a door being broken down, and threatened that those holding Bergdahl would be hunted down.
In December 2009, five months after Bergdahl's disappearance, the media arm of the Afghan Taliban announced the release of a new video of "a U.S. soldier captured in Afghanistan", titled "One of Their People Testified". In the announcement the Taliban did not name the American, but the only U.S. soldier known to be in captivity is Bergdahl. U.S. military officials have been searching for Bergdahl, but it is not publicly known whether he is being held in Afghanistan or in neighboring Pakistan, an area off-limits to U.S. forces based in Afghanistan.[31] On December 25, another video was released that shows Bergdahl in a combat uniform and helmet.[32][33] He described his place of birth, deployment to Afghanistan and subsequent capture. He then made several statements regarding his humane treatment by his captors, contrasting this to the abuses suffered by insurgents in prisons. He finished by saying that America should not be in Afghanistan and that its presence there is just another Vietnam. On April 7, 2010, the Taliban released a third video of Bergdahl, now with a full head of hair and a beard, pleading for the release of Afghan prisoners held at Guantanamo and Bagram.[34][35] In November 2010, Bergdahl appeared briefly in a fourth video.[36] In May 2011, Bergdahl appeared briefly in a fifth video.[37]
In December 2011, it was reported that Bergdahl tried to escape three months earlier but was recaptured after three days.[38] In June 2013, Bergdahl's parents received a letter from him through the Red Cross.[39]

Threat of reprisal[edit]

On February 4, 2010, the Afghan Taliban demanded the release of Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani scientist who was convicted by a U.S. court on charges of attempting to murder U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan, and threatened to execute Bergdahl if their demand was not met.[40][41] The Taliban claimed that members of Siddiqui's family had requested their assistance.

Reports of joining the Taliban[edit]

Fox News reported in August 2010 that a Taliban commander named Haji Nadeem said Bergdahl was helping to train the Taliban in bomb making and infantry tactics. The Pentagon dismissed the reports as Taliban propaganda.[42][43]

Release efforts[edit]

The missing serviceman's fate is tied up in U.S. efforts to broker a peace deal between the Taliban and the Afghan government, a high-level, high-risk diplomatic initiative which appeared to be on the cusp of a breakthrough before the Taliban suspended preliminary talks in March 2012.[citation needed] For months, U.S. negotiators were seeking to arrange the transfer of five Taliban detainees held at Guantanamo Bay military prison to the Gulf state of Qatar. The transfer was intended as one of a series of confidence-building measures designed to open the door to political talks between the Taliban and Afghan President Hamid Karzai's government.[44] That move - at the center of U.S. strategy for ending the long, costly conflict in Afghanistan - was also supposed to lead directly to Bowe's release. The Taliban has consistently called for the United States to release those held at Guantanamo Bay in exchange for freeing Western prisoners. But the Guantanamo transfer proposal, which would have required notification to Congress, ground to a halt when the Taliban rejected U.S. conditions designed to ensure transferred Taliban would not slip away and re-emerge as military leaders. The Obama administration has since become skeptical that any such peace deal with the Taliban will occur before the bulk of NATO forces leave in 2014.[45]

Proof of Life[edit]

Daily Mail Uk reports a proof of life video was found referencing the date December 14, 2013 and is the first footage out in three years. [46]
