Commonsense

Normally as a person matures hopefully they develop what we call commonsense.  Somehow as a nation we have lost that ability.  In today’s reality commonsense has been replaced by political correctness which is the exact opposite in most cases.  Does the fact that we allow students from countries who hate us to come here and learn in our universities and then over stay their visa’s or return home and use their education to build weapons against us make any sense let alone commonsense?  We say it’s right to put restrictions on legal gun owners and purchasers when it’s the illegally obtained guns that are usually involved in shootings.  How does stripping law abiders of their guns that are used to protect society make any sense at all.  We know there is nothing we can do about the millions of illegal guns on the street now so why do we feel we have to inhibit the rights of those who legally have the right via the Constitution to own weapons for sport or to defend themselves.

Commonsense also tells us that in order to work efficiently government has to find ways of compromise yet political correctness has influenced so many legislators to the point that any real compromise is impossible.  It seems that when we elect some politicians to high office they lose the ability to think for themselves, they allow their party hacks to do their thinking for them.

Commonsense tells us that when we see a TSA agent frisking a crying 80 year old woman and allowing a person in a burka to pass with just a few questions and no pat down, that maybe something is amiss with our regulations.  Isn’t this is a case where political correctness has inserted it’s stupidity in our system.  The system of Tenure is another thing that defies commonsense.  Our nation’s work places are full of people who really don’t deserve to draw a paycheck, they are there because tenure has made it impossible to fire them.  It is also rampant in our education system, in many cases the teachers union has put the value of the teacher who is not performing above that of our children’s education.  When in our history did we discover that we should honor time served over the value of a great education?  Great teachers are let go for budget cuts rather than the teacher with the poorest grade performance.

I wonder if the same is true for the Secret Service, does the guy with the poor aim get to guard the President?  Maybe even political correctness has its limits, that’s only commonsense, right?

Our President seems to be afraid to use the words Radical Muslim Terrorist because some may be offended by it.  I’d rather see him offend a few and call it like it is, that’s just commonsense.  Where is the commonsense that allows radical Muslim clerics to preach hate in our cities under the guise of free speech?  Isn’t that similar to shouting fire in a crowded theatre?   When some cleric in a Mosque is telling people to kill the infidels, Christians, Jews and anyone else that doesn’t believe there are 72 virgins just waiting for them in heaven, it kind of seems commonsense would tell you that this is not what our forefathers meant to be called free speech.  There are so many more cases of political correctness gone wild that it would take a ream of paper to tell them all, isn’t it time to bring the commonsense we were born with back into this society we have done our best to destroy?

That’s my opinion, how does it compare to yours?

Miranda rights vs Public Safety

Please someone tell me the reason the Boston Terrorist was given his Miranda rights.  Just like everything this administration has done it has been done in a cloud of secrecy.  The FBI was interrogating the prisoner when in comes a Federal Magistrate, Federal Defense lawyer and a Federal Prosecutor and cut off the interrogation mid stream.  We find now that they were not finished with their terror, they were headed for New York's Times Square with another pressure cooker bomb and several pipe bombs.  Still our administration refuses to call them what they are; Radical Muslim Terrorists.

Just once I'd like to see evidence from the Muslim community that they are doing something about the radicalization of the their religion.  When Allah's words are used for terror to obtain an objective it is no longer a religion but a political movement driven by terror.  Tax exemption should be taken away from any Mosque that has a record of allowing this to go on.  Some of these people come here and enjoy the freedom and the rights of America only with the desire to destroy.  If they want to return to the Stone Ages go back where they came from.  I believe in the freedom to choose ones religion but when it becomes evident that they want to take away my right to choose a religion they are no longer welcome on our soil.

We should establish our own Human Rights organization here in the U.S. and demand the banning of any type of clothing that is forced upon women like the burka or even the full headscarf.   Human beings are not property in the United States  of America and no group should have special rights outside our Constitution to force the use of them.  I've heard it compared to the Habit that Catholic Nuns wear which to me is a ridiculous comparison.  The Catholic Nuns do it voluntarily and may quit at any time.  The women of the burka are in it for life.  In some cases they are not even allowed outside the house without the accompaniment of a male relative.  There have even been reports of honor killings of daughters who have become to Americanized to suit their fathers.  Why on earth did they come to America in the first place if they never intended to assimilate into our society?

That's my opinion, sure would like to hear yours.

Where are today's Heroes

Are you aware of how much politics play a part in our everyday lives?  Let’s take the Sequester for example; this could have been handled easily if the Executive and the Legislative branches of government were not acting like children.  Folks we are in process of creating a $20 TRILLION dollar debt.  The amount that is involved in the Sequester is in relation to the loose change the average man throws on the dresser every night.  There didn’t have to be any pain involved for the population it just required a little leadership to maneuver the cuts to areas that need a cut.  The republicans agreed to the process that originated in the Oval Office.  Neither party thought the other would allow it to come to fruition.  Rather than allow these necessary cuts to slip easily into the budget the President is forcing a confrontation with the House by allowing the cuts to be used for what he hopes are a political gain.  The White House tours is one example but when the media actually reported how ludicrous it was they decided to make everyone pay the price by reducing the staff of Air Controllers in the major hubs across America.  In reality the FAA’s budget was not in question and this reduction is to make you and I pay for the fact that the house has forced this reduction down the throat of the President.

The problem with this is that now we are talking about putting people at danger as they travel.  If the country can operate with less controllers effectively this may bounce back in his face like the White House tour situation.  The problem is that we don't know if the air traffic can be safely handled by less people. The blame for the Sequester can be spread around and is not just the President fault.  The fact that we have such a division in our legislative and executive branch is embarrassing to all Americans.  It would almost be better to have a Parliamentary Procedure and force the entire bunch into a special election and clean house.   I mean from the President down, we don’t need these childish tantrums coming from the White House or the Legislators.  Where are our heroes who should be leading us into the future.  The United States has had the greatest leaders the world has ever seen, those who we now have to depend on shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same breath as; Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and more recently Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy or Reagan.   These were not self promoting narcissists, these were men who cared deeply about America.

We need to dig deep into our souls and find leaders who will stand for something other than their next election.  In today’s world the campaigning never seems to end and the work of the government is treated as a part time venture.
That’s just my opinion, what’s yours.

America, Home of the brave land of the free

America, Home of the Brave, Land of the Free.  Slogans seldom carry the weight of the one I just quoted and it’s up to us, this generation of Americans to keep it strong.  We have to take every opportunity to find the flaws in our system and correct them without giving up on our liberties.  America is strong because of our free society and our enemies would like to see us turn it into a police state where every move is questioned.  The crafters of our Constitution saw and anticipated the problems of a big government and built safety guards into the document to protect us from an overzealous Executive, Legislative or Judicial body.  We as a people have to take responsibility for what is going on around us at all times, especially at large events.  The goal of our forefathers was religious freedom above all, but when a religion takes on the role of politics and calls for the extermination of all others it has to be classified differently.  The radicalization of the Muslim world has spread throughout this country with the protection of our own Constitution and Bill of Rights.
As the United States of America has developed as a country over the last 240 years it has been with the assimilation of many different religions and cultures.  When we see a definite separation and failure or refusal to assimilate into what has become the American culture of freedom for all we should be alarmed.  The conclaves of Muslims in our larger cities have gone so far as to demand sharia law in their communities.  Women are forced into the role of property and carry little voice in their communities.  We as Americans have laws that are supposedly representative of all people who live within our borders, why then should we allow a different standard for anyone else.  Would we allow a community of just Catholics or any other religion to impose their own restrictions on Americans living in their community?  Would we allow any other nation to build a settlement here with their own rules and regulations governing over our Constitution?  The answer is a resounding no!

They should either assimilate or go back to where they came from if they like the laws and conditions there better than ours.  Over the years our Hispanic population has become more and more isolated.  The history of Hispanics is a proud one in the building of America yet a new culture of entitlement has taken hold of many.  People who come here legally have shown the desire to become one with our nation or they wouldn’t have waded through all the red tape and restrictions on the process.  When one comes illegally it is not with the desire to assimilate, it is generally to take advantage of this great system.

That’s my opinion, I’d like to hear yours.

What a great job our law enforcement did.

Congratulations to an outstanding job by law enforcement and to the citizens of Boston for their perseverance.  Bostonians got over the shock and fear and turned it to anger, a response the jihadists will find in any American city.   You may knock us down but brother you don’t want to be around when we get up.  What these Stone Age cretins don’t seem to understand is; America is more than geography, it’s a way of life that the average American is willing to give his life to protect.  We may disagree politically but we are 100% American when it comes to our Sovereignty.  It’s like getting between two brothers fighting, you’ll end up on the ground and they will stroll off with their arms around each other.

We need to take a good look at our procedure for giving amnesty to people from countries who are our enemies.  We took these two kids from Chechnya in and gave them everything they needed to be successful and what is our return?  This is not the first time we have been burnt by this process but it should be the last.  My guess is we should start by going undercover in Mosques all over the country and find out where these ideas of Jihad are being hatched.  It’s a way to frequent of a problem and my guess is that it’s not in the daily program in each Mosque that but certain susceptible individuals are being recruited by operatives within the system for special treatment.  We allowed Mullahs like Anwar Awlaki to preach their hatred in Mosques all over the United States, how many recruits of Awlaki like Major Nidal Hasan the Fort Hood Shooter are imbedded in our military?  How many like these kids are biding their time in our communities across this country.  We have no way of knowing until something tragic like this happens again.

Do you think the Boston Bomber should be given his Miranda rights and receive a trial in our court system or should he be treated as an enemy combatant and sent to Guantanamo to be judged.  When are we going to stop treating those who hate us and wish to do us harm with the same laws that pertain to our citizens?  I know, this guy is a Naturalized American but as far as I’m concerned he gave up those rights when he took up arms against our citizens.

Once again I want to congratulate all the branches of law enforcement that worked so beautifully together to bring these two down.  My worry is that they weren’t alone in this and that there are more out there just waiting to deliver another cowardly blow to our society.  This is why we have to fight fire with fire and treat these types cases with extreme prejudice, in other words we need to get just a mean and crude as they are.

That’s my opinion, what do you think?

There is no justification for killing the defenseless, it is and always will be cowardice.

There should be no speculation, until we find out who was responsible for this terror attack in Boston.  Not from either the press or the politicians.  Let the authorities do their job; there will be plenty of time for finger pointing later.

The criminal or criminals who perpetrated this cowardly attack will face eternity with the face of 8 year old Martin Richard haunting their nightmares.  No philosophy, religion or wrong doing could ever justify what they have done.  Targeting strangers at random who are defenseless is the utmost in cowardice.  I know it’s wrong to ask God for vengeance but in this I feel it is justified, may they rot in Hell for eternity.

The problem I see in this act is that it may not be over, this may just be the beginning of a major effort of either domestic or foreign terrorist to demoralize our people.  Just like a lot of our politicians do, these individuals have failed to realize the resolve of the American people when pushed to far.   We have to be vigilant at any large gathering either sports or otherwise.  Don’t be afraid to call attention to anything out of the ordinary.  It’s much easier to say you’re sorry for causing a ruckus than it is to witness the alternative.  It’s time we put political correctness to bed and took a lesson from the Israeli’s regarding security.  It’s surely not the time to disarm our populace.

The reason I think it may not be over is the fact that no one either domestic or foreign has taken credit for this atrocity.  No letter to the government demanding changes, no video from Al-Qaida spouting their rhetoric.  No I don’t think this is the last of it this time.  Be Vigilant and observant where ever you are.

There are many in this world who feel jealous of our freedom and our wealth, there are many in this country who feel we are losing our freedom.  This could land anywhere so it’s not time to accuse but I will say this; no matter who you are or where you are from, the American people are coming for you and when we find where you are hiding you’ll pray for mercy to deaf ears.

That’s my opinion, what’s yours?

Will we ever be safe again?

We have become an easy target for any loon who can rub two sticks together.  Our international society has been degraded to the point where there are people who would consider the cowardly attack in Boston as justified.  We as a people of the world have lost the morality and humanity that God designed into us.  I watched last week as people celebrated the death of Margret Thatcher as though she was the devil herself.  Disliking someone or disagreeing with an opinion has now become hate a vicious murderous type of hate.  Whether you are a Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu or atheist, you have to admit that since the attempted elimination of the fear of God in our lives things have deteriorated badly.  Notice I said the fear of God not just the belief in the Almighty.  God has been tested by these soulless people throughout the world and they have found little response to the carnage they have wrought upon his people.  This has taken away the fear of his wrath that held society loosely together for generations.  Somewhere along the way we have forgotten his teachings;  God helps those who help themselves, an eye for an eye is another.  We have failed to respond to terror with the vengeance sufficient to deter.  We send our troops to battle with one arm tied behind their back, we give our criminals more rights than our innocent and we punish those who try to protect themselves and their families.

It seems to me that we have allowed political correctness to dictate our potential for a free society.  We cow down to the United Nations and their slant on how the world should be.  We can't call people out for what they are because we may hurt a few feelings.  We can't have capital punishment for mass murderers because it is considered to be cruel and unusual punishment to stick a needle in their arm even when they have slaughtered many.  It took a couple hours for our government to officially call the Boston Massacre a Terror Attack.  If we don't start responding in kind to these horrific events whether they be domestic or alien, God may say we are too weak to survive in this treacherous world and give up on us.  If we are going to fight terror, we have to fight it to win.  There is no tie in war only a temporary pause while the opposition re arms and regroups.

Don't get me wrong I'm not jumping to conclusions that this was a foreign terror attack.  It was how ever a planned attack designed to kill and maim Americans.  There has to be consequences for this action and no stone should be left unturned.  When the truth is known the viciousness of the attack should be wrought on the group or individuals involved.  It just may discourage the next group of cowardly purveyors of terror from their actions.

Sharing hopes and dreams for a better world.

The thing about having a blog that is really interesting is hearing from people all over the world on my email.  Some are to bashful or even afraid to comment on the published blog but feel comfortable using the email attached to the blog.  I know others who read this would like to hear from those in other countries as much as I.
I see on our activity reports that we have readers in Australia, Argentina, Canada, Greece, Russia, Iraq, South Korea and Turkey.  I know our readers here in the United States would love to hear your thoughts about where our world is today and what we can do to make it a better place.  We are all citizens of the world and as so we are the only hope for making things better for all of us.
We have no ulterior motive, we are just people who want to live our lives in peace by getting to know one another.  It would be great if you would take a moment to write even if it is anonymous, just leave your first name and country.  We can all sit around and listen to our politicians banter on and on and accomplish nothing or we can develop a thread that may weave for our people a common and comforting quilt.  We don’t have to agree on all things in the world but we can agree that it would be a great gift to all who inhabit this earth just to find a common thread that could lead to an understanding of cultures.  In that way the children of the world might just inherit a better place.

How much are our schools influencing the politics in America?

Are the Universities destroying America by injecting politics of the far left into their scholastic endeavors?  Over the years academia has moved solidly to the left.  It reminds me of Nikita Khrushchev’s statement that “they the Communists will take over America without firing a shot.”  How far from the truth is that statement?  The left has totally taken over the news media, the universities and the unions in America.  They shape the minds of our youth and when one of them denounces this they chastise the accuser.  We send our children off to be educated not indoctrinated, yet these, in many cases State run organizations continually warp the minds of their students.  Professors like Ward Churchill of Colorado who because of tenure have continued to expound their hate for the American system.  Thankfully Churchill was finally dumped after years of the damaging brainwashing he administered to his students.

A teacher can have a preference in politics, no one can or should deny their right to an opinion but their opinion and their politics should stay out of their curriculum.  The youth of America have the right to build their own consensus in regards to politics.  In the 50’s and 60’s it was the strong desire of parents that their children would have an opportunity for a better education than they did.  Many gave up their life’s pleasures to afford this for their children and sadly watched as the likes of the Weather Underground and other campus radicals took over the academic leadership in the schools of the United States.

There is a solution to this problem and it lies in the State supported institutions all across the country.  As with all government agencies the only way to stop their influence is to cut off their funding.  The schools themselves will eventually get the message and cleanse themselves of the radical element.  The key is to elect legislators from within your community who have the courage to attack this problem and fight for real educational reform from kindergarten up.  Politics do not belong in elementary, middle, or high schools and should be limited to political science classes in college.  Just how nice would it be to see a school that concentrated on the 3 R’s rather than things like Johnny has two Daddy’s?   There are two things that do not belong in our schools;  Political Correctness for one and extreme sex education other than hygiene.  The thing that needs to be brought back to schools is God and discipline.  It wouldn’t be bad to throw in a little patriotism too.

This notion that it’s the community’s responsibility to raise your children is the problem with society today, if you are old enough and man or woman enough to have children then be grown up enough to take responsibility for their upbringing.  Children need structure and that is what should be provided by the parents.  Teachers are not babysitters and proxy parents, they are there to teach reading, writing and arithmetic, morality, commonsense and behavior should come from the home.

Affordable healthcare or a time bomb

Just where are we at with the Affordable Care Program or as it’s better known as (Obama-Care)?  I'm afraid that things aren’t going as smoothly as we were promised.  Many of us warned of the consequences of such a big change and many of those fears are starting to become reality.  Small business will be the real test as they work around the additional expense, in many cases the cost of this program to the small to medium business will be greater than their profit over the last few years.  Many entrepreneurs are already shuffling their workforce to fit under the shield of protection, this is done by shifting full time employees to part-time and laying off marginal workers.  The cost for individual healthcare policies has gone up tremendously with promises of more increases.  Insurance companies just like any other investment is looking to make a profit or they wouldn’t be in the business and when they are forced to take on known problems their cost goes up and it’s spread across the board.  It doesn’t matter that you’ve never had a claim now you will have to pay for the claims of others.  It’s no different than taxes, the more people not working the greater the tax burden is on those who are.  The government is made up of WE and WE have to bear the burden of those who feel it’s their right to slack off.  Don’t get me wrong there are a lot of people out of work who would love to find a job but with employers up in the air regarding the unknown costs associated with Obama-Care, jobs are at a premium.  A big problem is that I’ll guess about 30% of those who have been laid off over the past 4 years are enjoying the free pass and it will take an earthquake to get them back into the workforce as long as the government is feeding and housing them.

Kathleen Sebelius the Health and Human Services head told an interviewer Monday that the administration was not prepared for the backlash on the program and was having trouble keeping up with the changes in regulations.  Gee, isn’t that what everyone was yelling about when they snuck this bill through in the middle of the night?  20K new reg’s so far and estimating close to 30.  This is a lot of extra work for any business to try and keep up with let alone a mom and pop outfit.  Just like the tax code it will grow into a monster that only accountants and lawyers will understand. Once this is all implemented we won’t have to worry about being like France, we will be France basically.  At that point the Dreams of Obama’s father will supersede those of our Forefathers of a free capitalist society.

That’s my opinion, what’s yours?

Food For Thought
If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If the only school curriculum allowed to explain how we got here is evolution, but the government stops a $15 million construction project to keep a rare spider from evolving to extinction ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor or check out a library book, but not to vote who runs the government ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
If the government wants to ban stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines with more than ten rounds, but gives 20 F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
If, in the largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not a 24-ounce soda because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
If an 80-year-old woman can be stripped searched by the TSA but a woman in a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If a seven year old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is "cute," but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
If children are forcibly removed from parents who discipline them with spankings while children of addicts are left in filth and drug infested “homes”... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government intrusion, while not working is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing and free cell phones ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If the government's plan for getting people back to work is to incentivize NOT working with 99 weeks of unemployment checks and no requirement to prove they applied but can’t find work ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you more "safe" according to the government ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

What would Ike, Truman or Reagan do?

My wife asked an interesting question this morning, she asked what Ike or Truman or even Reagan would do in this situation with the world on the brink of war.  I had to think a while as the question hit home.  I don’t believe we would have reached this point had any of the above listed been president.  Why you ask, because they would have reacted a lot sooner to the different cases.  Ike or Truman would have at the first sign of escalation put out an ultimatum to stand down immediately that the world would have listened to, as they were known for being men of action not just diplomacy.  In the last few decades we have become appeasers and are not expected to react other than to send our diplomats to negotiate with these rogue leaders through third party intermediaries.
“We will not negotiate with terrorists” is what they say, but in the background we have an emissary from the French speaking for us.  Our stature in the world has fallen to the degree that if Korea wants more food they rattle the saber and we send food, it’s a big joke in the world.  America the country that was left to these last two generations a strong and feared nation among nations has become the piñata of the world, poke her and goodies will fall out.  We saw what Reagan did when he took command, the hostages in Iran were released immediately, how about when the Cubans sought a foothold in Grenada, he didn’t negotiate he reacted.  We saw what Truman did at the end of WWII to show the world that it doesn’t pay to mess with the United States of America.  Ike was so strong coming out of WWII that we had the greatest period of economic growth in our history.  Why did these leaders succeed where today’s fail?  Because they had the heart and soul of America and all these tin horn dictators knew it.  The John Wayne syndrome has always been the mantra for success in leadership in America.  The press called Reagan the Cowboy in a very derogatory way, yet it was that Cowboy who brought down the Berlin Wall and brought The Soviet Union to her knees.

A thing to ponder; all three presidents that I spoke of brought themselves out of poverty just as most Americans did in the day.  There were no hands reaching down to lift their spirits or fill their larders.  These were self made men who took the personal responsibility to succeed. The Presidency was the most prestige’s position in the world and when the President of the United States spoke people listened.  Today we have a reflection of what we have become; a spoiled aristocratic government that thinks more about their personal power and prestige than the glory of the American way that defined our nation for decades.

That’s my opinion, what’s yours?

How close are we to a World War?

In October of 1962 I read an article that asked the question; how close are we to war?  I was in the military at the time and I can tell you we were pretty damn close to a shooting war on three fronts.  There was of course The Cuban Missile standoff, at the same time a cat and mouse game was going on under the sea with Russia and the United States both playing a dangerous game of chess with highly armed nuclear submarines at times coming just yards from each other provoking and dodging.  Then there was a battle brewing in Viet Nam after the French pulled out.  The U.S. backed a South Korean named Ngo Dinh Diem who was not much more than a thug who had eliminated his rivals on his way to president.  The world at the time called for a nationwide Korean election but the U.S. was afraid the communists would win and fought to hold the election in just the South.  The resulting unrest in the North eventually led to a shooting war that as we all know involved losing thousands of American Troops.

If I were to be asked the same question today I would have to say once again we are involved in the potential for  war on four fronts; Of course Afghanistan where we are totally involved but I can’t call it a war because in a war both sides are trying to eliminate each other.  In the case of Afghanistan our troops have one hand tied behind their back due to constrictions placed on them by both the Bush and Obama administrations and the Karzi regime regarding collateral damage.  Plus we have already told the enemy that we are leaving whether we win or lose.  Once again the U.S. for whatever reason has backed a thug who has little support of his people.

The second front is Israel; it will only be a short while before the Arab Nations surrounding Israel decide that they can win against the smaller country.  By the way, aren’t we helping arm Egypt with tanks and F-16’s, a nation run by the Islamic Brotherhood who has sworn to remove Israel from the map?

The third front is Syria which will lead eventually to Iran; the U.S. is really in a pickle here as Russia has chosen to back the Syrian regime with weapons and supplies.  The only way the United States can win these conflicts is to actually be allowed to use the weapons at our disposal and fight to win.  These do not necessarily have to be nuclear arms as we have a huge arsenal of conventional weapons in our armory.  We just have to make our enemy understand we are in to win and will not hold back our military once engaged.   Our M.O. has been to hit and run in these engagements never to go for all out victory.  To the eyes of our enemy Americans have no stomach for war and will soon tire of the conflict.   Have we the people of the greatest nation ever become so weak that we are going to allow America to become a lesser nation who depends on others for survival?

I know I mentioned a fourth front, to most it is obviously Korea the most bellicose of the four.  In my opinion North Korea will saber rattle till the cows come home but will not attack in force until we are totally engaged in other parts of the world and stretched to the limit.  They may cause a ruckus on the border but China will hold them back until they consider we are so weak from the attrition of war that we can be gobbled up easily.  All this time our longtime Cold War enemy Russia sits and watches and waits.

It is my opinion that without strong and decisive leadership in Washington we are being led into a world class trap that will be hard to get out of.  The United States must lead from the front and not allow the weaker nations of Europe to dictate our survival.

That’s my opinion, what’s yours?

When the government gets involved

When the government gets involved it tends to overkill whatever it is responding to.  When legislation is passed by Congress it then has to go to a team of regulators that create regulation to backup the laws passed.  The regulators look into every aspect of compliance and basically guess at what the result of the law will be on society as it is implemented.  Many times there are unintended consequences to these laws that have an adverse affect on the populace and do more damage than the good that was intended.

A good example is prohibition, prohibition was suppose to bring families back together by closing the gin mills that husbands often visited on their way home from work.  It actually caused chaos thru-out the country and did more damage than good.  It proved that you can’t legislate morality, it has to be taught in the home first and foremost and that old habits are hard to break.

Another example is as Marisa Manley wrote in 1996 “Welfare laws are supposed to help the poor, yet as Charles Murray and others have documented, welfare establishes powerful, perverse incentives for families to break up, since mothers lose government money if a father is present. The poverty rate among families with a single head of household is 600 percent higher than families with two heads of household. Infant mortality is much higher among single-head-of-household families, too.”  Do you think the government planned it to be this way or is this just another example of overkill from government?

Another case of overkill was the arrest and confinement of the Japanese Americans during the war.  These families were uprooted from their homes and businesses in a massive sweep to rid our country of subversives.  These were law abiding citizens of the United States no different from Italians, Germans or even the Irish yet they were removed from society forcibly and many lost everything they had built up over their entire lives as they were put in internment camps by the very country they loved and supported.

Now we have possibly largest case of overkill by the government so far as they take over the worlds greatest healthcare system.  Their intentions are supposedly good but the ultimate result is yet to be determined, so far our cost for medical insurance has skyrocketed forcing many businesses to trim their employee roster or switch them to part time to avoid the over 20,000 new regulations that have come from Washington so far.

I remember a case of overcharging in the military when it was discovered a $14 toilet seat cost $230, this was the result of the cost to do business with the government. It was due to the massive amount of paperwork and the specs that had to be followed because of the regulations involved.  Instead of just sending a simple purchase order to a supplier to buy  toilet seats these bureaucrats felt the need to design their own.

In my opinion when government gets involved in domestic affairs things go badly.

That’s my opinion what’s yours?

How does the Federal Government earn money?

What creates revenue for the Federal Government?
When you tax or overburden the small business community with regulations you stifle the creation of jobs which in turn lowers the income through employment tax.  Picking up the slack through additional tax on those who create jobs further depletes investment and again lowers revenue.

When the government lowers the burden on investors and small business jobs make a comeback and it increases the revenue collected by the government.  Kennedy and Reagan both proved this by lowering taxes and creating jobs during their respective administrations.
As of today we have no sign that this administration understands this principle lesson.  There are over 20,000 new regulations coming out of Washington just for Obama-Care alone.  This is creating an over burden situation on the job creators which lowers the possibility of an increased employment picture.  Small to medium businesses create 75 to 80% of the jobs in America yet there is no small business package that is readily available to help them through these hard times.  The Green Energy program that has been supported by this administration has been wrought with corruption and failure.

They can tax us out of capitalism and create a European semi socialist style of economy without firing a shot and that’s exactly what they are doing.
